This coffee table measures 30″ wide, 18″ deep by 16″ tall plus casters. To build it, I used parts from 3 pallets because some of the boards were too warped to use.
I had left the pallets outside to weather elements because I wanted a rustic look, and what better than the weather to give them this rustic and aged look?
I purchased a piece of 5/8″ plywood cut to adequate size for the bottom of the box. I used a very simple construction technique, using nails and a few screws for the joinery.
I didn’t make any attempt to hide them, as I like the look. I used jute rope for the handles and for the faux hinges. I used surface- mount cabinet hinges as the working hinges because they work smoothly and I open the lid often.
Finally, I applied the stencils with a dry brush/dabbing method so it would look a little aged. So far I have not applied any finish, because again I like the rustic look as is.
