Herringbone Style Pallet Planter for Courtyard or Patio

To make this herringbone style pallet planter box for my courtyard, I’ve used four repurposed wood pallets. Below are the step-by-step instructions to build the same.

Step-by-step instructions to build this herringbone style pallet planter:

1. Dismantle pallets, I use a pallet burst ear plus bolster chisel and hammer to separate boards.
2. Build the frame: I used pallet stringers to construct legs and rails into a basic box shape.
3. Clad the frame with pallet boards: Cut boards at 45degrees and use them to create the herringbone pattern.
4. Top the box with pallets boards, add edging to give definition.
5. Add a base
6. Finish to your taste, my client wishes to paint it in black gloss.
