Two-toned Pallet Wood Computer Desk

I recently had someone ask me if I could build them an L-shaped pallet wood computer desk using dark walnut and red mahogany stain. They wanted it to measure 48" each long way by 21" deep 30" high.

I used store-bought 1X4s for the frame, pallet deck boards for the top and up-cycled wood for the legs. I used some pieces of 1/2" plywood as a base so I would have something to pin and glue my top too.

After assembling the frame I distressed the 1X4s so they would look a bit older and rougher. I then stained the legs and frame dark walnut. After squaring off and cutting the top pieces to the length, I sanded them and then stained every other row dark walnut and red mahogany.

I also cut a 1 3/8" hole near the back on each side so there would be a space to run the cables through. After the stain had dried I attached them to the top using wood glue and pins from my air nailer.

To finish the project I applied two coats of a gloss polyurethane.
