This fully functional rustic gate was built from 3 old shipping crates and 2 wood pallets. It has a door on the right side of the gate that can stay whole or you can unlock to door to enter.
I measured the lengths of my gate so I can cut the crates to the length I needed. Some of the pallets were so long that I can have different sizes of slates. I used one box of finish nails and one box of flathead nails to add that extra rustic look.
I also used one box of 2½ screws on the frame that was made from (12) 2"×6"×12'. The gate was stain using a special walnut and cedar stain to capture more colors on the grain.
