Compost bins are containers for the production of compost from organic household waste. This allows the reduction of the generation of waste for deposition, generating a product rich in nutrients from a process of waste decomposition. The compost is used as fertilizer for gardens and gardening.
This compost bin is made of recovered and recycled pallet wood. The slats were arranged so that there is a space between them for air to circulate inside, which is essential for an adequate process of decomposition and the generation of compost. The wood was treated with a lacquer to protect it from humidity and exposure to the elements. A metal mesh was placed inside to prevent the waste from escaping through the space between the slats. The measures are 20" x 20" x 25" and a top door with hinges were placed for loading waste and another front door at the base, for the removal of the compost made.
