Used shipping forms and pallets from a local tractor trailer manufacturer. Since these were 7 foot x 3 foot and made from 2×4, 2×6, 2×8 and 2x10s I knew that they would be perfect for a DYI garden fence. I acquired around 30 of these for free along with numerous other pallets and shipping forms. I cleaned then with a power washer to get the grime off of them. I then painted them. I cu the 10 foot 4x4s in half and cemented them in the ground at the corners of the garden. Then I installed one section at a time using pieces of 2x4s to join them. I also used a t-post throughout the joined pallet pieces to give them some added strength as these each weigh around 80 lbs. each. The hardware that was used to mount them to the corner and center section 4x4s also came from these pallets. The final product turned out beautiful and better than expected. I also used a piece of metal work from our old and worn out canopy frame and built the main fence gate around it! What are great way to repurpose, recycle and reuse what would have tuned into fire wood.
